1. Dubai Truck Ban on Sheikh Zayed Road Begins October 1

The new Dubai truck ban Sheikh Zayed Road restriction took effect on October 1. Trucks cannot use Sheikh Zayed Road or Beirut Street between 6am and 10pm. Airport Road, Oman Street and Damascus Street ban trucks in three peak windows. Emirates Road is exempt. The aim is fewer lorries at rush hour. Fleets must plan around rest areas or apply for a permit.

2. Etihad Rail Starts Running Between Dubai and Abu Dhabi

What's new in Dubai in October includes a train to Abu Dhabi. Etihad Rail opened Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates on September 30. A footbridge links it to the Metro Red Line. There are trains to Mohammed Bin Zayed City. The time taken according to Etihad Rail is 57 minutes, although originally it was 64 minutes. Comfort Class starts at Dh39. Premium starts at Dh109.

3. UAE VAT Changes Hit Businesses From October 1

The UAE VAT changes in October 2026 come from Cabinet Decision No. 149 of 2026. The 5% VAT rate does not change. The rules for claiming input VAT do. Cash purchases above a threshold lose input VAT recovery, and the Finance Minister has not published that figure yet. Businesses with AED 50 million or more in revenue must appoint an electronic invoicing provider by October 30.

4. Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise by Up to 60 Fils

The UAE Fuel Price Committee raised pump prices from October 1. Special 95 now costs Dh4.28 a litre, up from Dh3.69 in September. Super 98 is Dh4.40. E Plus 91 is Dh4.21. Diesel costs Dh4.80, up 50 fils. Rates are national, so Dubai pays the same as Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. On a 60-litre tank of Special 95, you pay about Dh35 more.

5. Dubai School Mid-Term Break 2026 Moves to October 12 to 16

The Dubai school mid-term break 2026 now runs from October 12 to 16. Classes resume Monday, October 19. The dates were originally October 19 to 23 at some schools, but KHDA says private schools must follow the Ministry of Education calendar. With weekends, students get nine days off starting from October 10 to 18. Curriculum of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladesh schools might vary, therefore, check your school.

6. Dubai Parks, Miracle Garden and Safari Park Reopen

October brings back Dubai's outdoor season. Dubai Parks and Resorts reopens October 7 with MOTIONGATE Dubai, Real Madrid World, LEGOLAND Dubai Resort and Riverland Dubai. Dubai Miracle Garden opens its 15th season on October 8, and a combo ticket with the Butterfly Garden costs Dh140. Dubai Safari Park starts Season 8 on October 12. Check each official site for hours and park ticket prices.

7. Global Village Opens Season 31 on October 14

Global Village opens Season 31 on Wednesday, October 14 at 6pm. It runs to May 2027 under the theme A More Wonderful World. It sits near Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in Dubailand. Season 31 entry prices were not announced in the reports I checked. Last season cost Dh25 from Sunday to Thursday and Dh30 on Friday and Saturday.

8. Dubai Fitness Challenge Turns 10

Dubai Fitness Challenge launches its 10th event between October 31 and November 29. It is quite a straightforward objective. Get your body moving in some form of exercise for 30 consecutive days, each day for 30 minutes. The program is going to offer you several options across the city depending on your age and physical fitness level. There was no information on how to register in the announcement.
